God is Good
"Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust"
Psalm 91:1-2
God is good! All the time!
During our first day of SWOP, Zion led devotion by starting out and saying "God is good!" and we responded back with, "All the time!". Now we know for a fact, that God is good, right? It's like the number 1 Christian knowledge, but do we believe He's good all the time?
During these last couple of weeks, many things that we have been looking forward to have been canceled. Oh, this is your senior year and you were looking forward to spending time with your classmates? Nah, you can't see them for 2 months. Mission Trips? What's that?... And the list goes on.
Many of us voiced our disappointment as our environment changed, from a somewhat "easy" atmosphere to a new and challenging way of learning and "going" to school. I'm sure we all have asked ourselves, why this is happening, or "why now?" Well, I'm not here to answer those questions, because I don't know either, but what I do know, is that God never promised us an easy life. In fact, in John 15:20, Jesus said "A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you". Life is full of difficulties and challenges, and there might be even more struggles if you follow Jesus. Although He never promised to make our life easier, He promised to never leave us, or forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5). God lives up to this promise every single day from the beginning of creation to our present life. We can see an example of His promise standing in Daniel 3, where Shadrach, Meshach, & Abednego were thrown in the fire. God didn't magically change their situations from getting thrown in the fire, but He was with them, the whole time.
During the "e-days", I was able to talk and have deep conversations with my parents about faith and life in general. I would've never had the same chance to talk to my parents about our beliefs if I was in school or at the dorm. So try to see the positive in every situation, and with that, I want to encourage you guys to write down notes or have a journal to keep track of your thoughts during these challenging times. Maybe you're confused, or sad, or even angry at God. Write them down, and in a few weeks, months, or maybe even years, you'll start to see how God is working in your life."
