Carry Me Through the Storm
"Wicked people have many troubles. But the Lord's love surrounds those who trust him. Good people, rejoice and be happy in the Lord. All you whose hearts are right, sing."
Psalm 32:10-11
I want to share with you a story about a barber and a little boy. The story started at the barber's shop.
Barber: You know, little boy, I don't believe that God exists.
Little boy: Why?
Barber: Because if there's a God, then why there’s a lot of people struggling with their problems in life? Why He didn't just stop it.
Little boy: You know, I don't believe barbers exists too.
Barber: huh, why?
Little boy: Because if Barbers exists, then why there's a lot of people outside with long hairs and beards?
Barber: Barbers exists! And I can’t force them to cut their hair, if they want my help, they just have to come to me.
Little boy: Exactly! God does the same too, He's there, but He doesn’t force people to have Him in their lives. They just have to come to Him because He’s willing to help, just like you (barber).
Every time we have storms in our lives, God is always there.
God doesn’t force us to come to Him, but He wants and hopes us to be with Him because He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 15:16; John 14:16)
God has a thousand ways to help us. But, the problems that we face in our lives grow out to become a wall that blinds us from God’s miracles on the other side.
One of the conditions for our prayers to be answered is that we must ask in faith, “And without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
If we doubt God's word the enemy will use it to destroy our connection with God. Just one single trap from Satan would make us question God about our unanswered prayers.
Christian faith is not a hope-so, hope, but a know-so, hope. It’s not like the hope that we know here in the world that can leave us disappointed in the end, but a hope that is anchored in Jesus Christ no matter how hard the storms in our lives will get. (Hebrews 6:19)
So remember, before you doubt God, doubt your own doubts, and God will carry you through the storm (Isaiah 43:2) :)
