Remembering Bob & Beth Freitas
Bob and Beth were married in Reno, Nevada after Bob was discharged from the army. After moving to Fort Jones, CA, they were both baptized into the Seventh-Day Adventist church. They attended Pacific Union College where Bob received a degree in Industrial Arts Education. From there they both went on to teach at Upper Columbia Academy and then Auburn Adventist Academy.
Bob taught Industrial Arts with included woodworking, mechanical drawing, arts & crafts, driver’s education, photography, tumbling & gymnastics as well as many other classes such as Bible & mathematics as needed by the school. He also built homes on both academy campuses, which allowed many students to learn the skills in building. Bob designed and supervised the building of the industrial arts buildings on both campuses.
Beth supervised in various departments at the academies including the furniture factory, laundry, and served as the accountant and business manager. She often substituted for the typing and shorthand classes. She also worked in both Upper Columbia and Western Washington Conference offices during their years of service.
After they retired, they lived in Sequim, WA for 30 years and then in 2018 moved to an adult family home in Marysville, WA to be near their children. They recently moved back to Auburn, WA where they were taken care of at home, where they quietly passed to their rest surrounded by their family.
They are survived by their daughter Karen Hackett and son Robert Freitas along with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. They are proceeded in death by their daughter Patti Walker.
A military memorial burial will take place on June 12, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. All are welcome.
